thank you for scheduling your consultation

please send all documents to me prior to your appointment

In order to provide you with advice about your case, please email all documents related to your case to isabel@ipalawfirm.com before your scheduled appointment. This will give me the opportunity to better understand your case and research any potential legal issues pertaining to your case.

Any and all documents are helpful, but please make sure to send me any notices you have received from the Immigration Court, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), or the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

write down questions for the attorney

If you have specific questions, I encourage you to write them down so we can discuss them during your consultation. I will take the time to go through each of your questions during our consultation, and if there is an issue I need to research before providing you with an answer I will let you know. Immigration is extremely complicated and often requires legal research. Sometimes a consultation can be a “fact gathering” appointment where you relay to me your case and questions and I follow up with you via email or an invitation to another appointment.

Confidentiality

Everything we discuss during our consultation is confidential and cannot be shared unless you give me permission or an ethical law requires me to disclose it. I will take notes during our consultation, but these notes will be confidential. Immigration cases often involve sensitive information that may be hard to share. However, all information needs to be communicated to me so that I can provide you with accurate legal advice.

attorney-client relationship

Having a consultation with me does not automatically create an attorney-client relationship. After your consultation, I will review your case and inform you via email if I am able to represent you. If I am able to represent you, I will send you a retainer agreement (contract) for my legal services which you will need to review, sign, and return to me. You additionally will be informed of the fee for my services and how it must be paid prior to beginning your case. If I am not able to take your case, I will let you know during the consultation or with a follow-up email.

I look forward to meeting with you soon!

Your consultation is special time set aside for us to discuss your immigration case and/or questions. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment for any reason, please contact me as soon as possible at isabel@ipalawfirm.com or 913-777-4313.
