P-3 Visa: Culturally Unique Artists, Performers, Teachers, or Coaches
The P-3 visa is for individuals or groups coming to the U.S. temporarily to perform, teach, or coach in a culturally unique program—either commercial or noncommercial.
Who Qualifies
- Individual artists or entertainers
- Groups of performers
- Teachers or coaches of a culturally unique art form
- Support personnel essential to the performance
- Traditional ethnic or folk performances
- Unique musical, theatrical, or dance styles
- Fusions of cultural traditions, if the program as a whole is rooted in cultural uniqueness
Requirements
- Participation must be in a cultural event or series of events that promote the development or understanding of the art form
- No minimum duration of association with the group is required
- The individual or group must be able to demonstrate their cultural authenticity
- Must intend to leave the U.S. after the authorized stay

- Compensation is not a deciding factor, but low pay may be flagged by labor organizations during the consultation process
- Not available to professional athletes or foreign media professionals
